We are Canada’s Atlantic proving ground for civilian & military aerospace. A unique facility & environment for testing, training, R&D and operations.

Situated at the former Yarmouth Airport, Aerospace Park Atlantic is a fully integrated aerospace and defence ecosystem.

We are a multipurpose, registered aerodrome, with a business park, operations and research facility.

APA provides a complementary platform to major hubs, enabling activities that are increasingly difficult to accommodate in larger, capacity-constrained environments.

Our six priority opportunity areas form a coordinated system that supports the full lifecycle of aerospace and defence activity, from testing and validation to deployment and sustained operations.

Our History

Our roots lie in testing and training, with 90 years of operations. In 1936, the site was selected for Maritime patrol aircraft, and two camps were created for training Allied forces: West camp for the RCAF and East camp for the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan.

After WWII, the airfield saw a transfer to Transport Canada and was used for regular scheduled civilian flights until 2003. From 2012, airport aviation traffic was limited to private, commercial & charter, emergency life flight, SAR and occasional RCAF traffic.

2026 saw the transition from Yarmouth International Airport to Aerospace Park Atlantic.

The Opportunity

Aerospace Park Atlantic has the opportunity to become a nationally relevant aerospace & defense platform, complementing existing hubs by offering a space to test, validate, deploy & scale. It is also a catalyst for economic growth & transformation in support of regional priorities.
